Teliyaleru Rama

This seems so relevant and apt in current times when there is so much violence in the name of 'rama', music and arts has always rebelled against injustice.

Translation
People do not have the knowledge, O Rama, of the path of devotion.
People wander all over the earth babbling, but (they do not have the knowledge….)
People get up early, take a dip in the water, smear sacred ash, count the prayer beads (implied) with their fingers, outwardly being praiseworthy. Inwardly (implied) they are dedicated to earning money. But, O Lord praised by Tyagaraja, (they do not have the knowledge of the path of devotion).

Moongil Thottam.. Mooligai Vaasam..

It is funny how you are in love with a song for some time and then fall in love with another song which it was meant as replacement option. They are both same in many ways but different to like them at different point of time.

Moongil Thottam Mooligai Vaasam
We are at the bamboo garden, filled with nature's fragrance

Neranja Mounam Nee Paadum Geetham
Your song filling the silence

Pournami Iravu Pani Vilum Kaadu
It is full moon night and it snows in the forest

Othaiyadi Paatha Unn Kooda Podinada
I am walking slowly with you in the row road

Idhu Podhum Enakku Idhu Podhumey
All I need is this, and this is enough for me

Verenna Venum Nee Podhumey
What else will I need, you are enough

Kolathaan Karaiyila Kulikkum Paravaiga
The birds which bath by the pond side

Siraga Ulakkamey Thuliga  Therikkumey
Toss little drops while shudder their feathers to dry

Munkobam Viduthu Mundhaana Yeduthu
You may let your anger go, and take your pallu

Nee Mella Thudaika Naan Unna Anaikka
While you wipe me with it I will hug you

Idhu Podhum Enakku Idhu Podhumey
All I need is this, and this is enough for me

Verenna Venum Nee Podhumey
What else will I need, you are enough

Marangal Nadungum Margazhi Irukka
It is winter when even the trees freeze

Ratham Urayum Kulirum Nirutha
The blood too froze with it

Ushnam Yaasikkum Udala Irukka
The body yearns for warmth

Otha Porvaila Iruvarum Nerunga
Let us come closer under one blanket

Idhu Podhum Enakku Idhu Podhumey
All I need is this, and this is enough for me

Verenna Venum Nee Podhumey
What else will I need, you are enough

Let's start the year with a nice song

The song is about a girl who has fallen in love but unable to express her love to her lover. The song is composed based on the lyrics from an existing poem from Vairamuthu's collections. The poem has a very good use of rhyme and alliteration. Thus, the words rhyme well in Tamil.

Nenjukulley Omma Mudunjirukaen

Vella Paarva Veesiviteer Munadi
Intha Thangatha Manasu Thanni Patta Kanadi

Nenju Kuzhiyilae Vanthu Vizhunthiruchu
Appa Nimunthavathan Apuramma Guniyalayae Guniyalayae
Kodakambi Pola Maram Kuthi Nikkuthae

In my heart…
I’ve tied you…
I don’t know in which direction my day rose?
You threw an innocent look at me!
My mind, which couldn’t resist that, is like a wet mirror…
A Colorful dollar chain, A watch on the right hand…
And an authority that controls even Elephants and Tigers!

Even after you had left
Your shadow hasn’t gone
It had fallen in my heart
I rose up seeing this

And after, I never went down
My mind is straight like a metallic rib in an umbrella…

Kaasa Noigarigalum Kanurangum Vaelayila
Aasa Noi Vanthu Maga Ara Nimisam Thoongalayae

In my heart…
I’ve tied you…
I don’t know in which direction my day rose?

Birds have slept already
Milk has turned into curd
Even the leaf in the tree has slept

When people with Cancer could sleep
I am infected with this desire and
I Couldn’t sleep even for half-a-minute
(“Kaasa Noi” means Cancer and “Aasa Noi” means Infected by Desire; the words rhyme well in Tamil)

Rubber Valai Vikkaellam Šathamida Vaiyillayae

In my heart…
I’ve tied you…
I don’t know in which direction my day rose?

I couldn’t eat…
My tongue is dry…
It’s been 7 to 8 days and
I haven’t even swallowed my saliva!

I am a poor little girl
who couldn’t express anything
Like a rubber bangle
Which couldn’t make any sound!

Kenneth Anderson Omnibus Vol1 Notes

Short summary of what I remember .... it has been a while!

Book1 – Tales from Indian Jungle

Chapter1: Ghooming at the dawn
It’s mostly about the sunrise and the experience of sitting through the jungle for a night, it tells us the beauty of the nature and the natural justice which prevails in the jungles (by the way of panther killing the fawn and its baby)

Chapter2: The bellandur ogre
Cattle thief tiger had a special liking for milch cows but idiot village people try to catch it using a pit. They try to spear the beast with a puny trishula but tiger turns the tide by leaping outside the pit, one poor guy loses his entire scalp due to unintentional scrap – he takes 3 days to die. Now the ogre is hurt, more careful of human beings and tiger extends its operation to other areas. Enter the scene Mr. Johnson, and Buddiah the necromancer. Confrontation between the two results in unsuccessful hunt and a hurt tiger. Only a matter of time the ogre became of man-eater, hence the dreadful story begins. Enter Mr. Jock he somehow convinces buddiah to help him and the village people too. Somebody gets killed and Stanley (the local doctor) along with Jock goes in search of the remains, there they find Mr. Ogre who is unwilling to go away from the kill. This leads to a trick situation in which they are forced to shoot at each other while tiger in the middle of it, fortunately none of the three get hurt. Waiting again in a pit for the orge to return will only confirm the fact that there are more tigers and then the same night another women would be killed in her hut dragged half out. Both Stanley and Jock position together near the hut and jock in the hut but ultimately both of them kill the tigers who had become man-eaters.

Chapter3: The aristocrat of amigiola
Its about a killing of tiger called Dorey..because it used to bask in sun in broad daylight with no fear, but I don’t agree with KDS that this is any coward. Hunting is stealth game not one of cowardice.

What schools should have taught!

Maths. Physics. Chemistry. Biology. History. Geography. All the other nonsense you studied at school, are you using any of these subjects in your real life? No na? You tell me one time, just one time where you have used trigonometry after the board exam? If you are not using any subject from school in real life means, isnt it a waste of 15 yrs na?

Agreed boss, knowledge is important for all of us. But why so much importance you are giving to school I don’t understand. Best is the politician fellows. They dominate every aspect of our society yet they have no schooling, but working knowledge of society. And yet you want to go to school. Mental or what?

See boss, dont send your kid to schools. What kids, no girl friend only? Like that you will ask. Boss, I will tell you what you should have learnt instead of spending 15 stupid years at school. You will never ask such silly things.

First, Bird hunting : what you think? See boss bird here means young appropriate girls, not some chicken or common indian myna. All our forefathers were schooled or what? Didn’t they still find birds. Just because you studied well and are in a good job means you dont get birds. These birds are strange creatures which dont know what they want and you think with money and good education you could impress them. I know you guys are touching 30, still single and incapable of hunting a bird go wear leaves and live like a sanyasi na?

Second, Driving : What nonsense man, people on the road are like monkeys. Are you deaf? No seriously. Before you get on the vehicle, you leave your brains outside is it? What is the reason for your honking? You think that once you honk, all the vehicles in front of you will vanish is it? City speed limit is there. Overtaking limit is there. Lane limit is there. That and all you don’t care. If it seems like an iota of space in the road and you sneak even if there is not space for you. That’s all no? Idiot.

Third, Mating : Historically we were walking around naked. Didnt they put dirty sculptures in the temples? Didn’t they know that in the future kids will come and look at them and ask nonsense questions to their mothers? I know you what all circus you did to understand how to make 3 humans from 2 in school only, these poor parents have no idea. Then doing unmentionable things in their bedrooms. Secretly, You were also doing all of these things? Yes na? Then why this hypocrisy? For human race to survive you should know this na?

Lastly, Common Sense: Excuse me clever guy, why you want to put so much scene? Whenever others suggest to do something useful, then only you will have all sorts of problem in this world. ‘Oh no, there is so much to do. I have to work, press my wifes legs, email my ex school girl friend, go to hell and come back by tomorrow morning..’ . Some nonsense reason you will give. One time two times is ok, always some stupid reason you give? You say you are busy with this, busy with that, but somehow you will find all the time in the world to update status messages, including your bloody latitude and longitude, in all the social networking websites. And still you act as if the whole earth is rotating on your head.

La Tomatina Hypocrisy

I am indifferent to this event but appalled by the self righteous stance against this particular event! I didn't see a facebook page to stop the wastage of milk during Nag panchami few months ago (FYI - Milk is poured on snake statues as part of celebrations). Milk definitely has more nutritional value for kids than tomatoes! There are many such instances where food wastage happens in enormous scale, ex: Indian Wedding. Wondering how many here would have liked a facebook page in support of the "maximum 3 dishes rule" in Indian Weddings discussed some time back.

I hope and wish their(so called food wastage activists) rules of engagement remains the same in all cases!

Weekend pain

Picked up an injury last Saturday while playing football! What should have been an easy victory over my brother ended up in a draw (2-2) after I sprained something in my neck and upper back. Sudden pain so sharp that I wasnt able to breath or lift my head up, after a while I realized that there was only one position I could comfortably sit. Even the slightest movements and jerks gave me a royal pain in the neck.

Despite the injury I got on with the activity entrusted - went to my native place, dropped off my grandfather. Tried to sleep off the injury but it only got worse after an hours sleep, I immediately left for Hostpital. On the way our car was kissed by karnataka sarige bus, he just came and blessed us with royal sized scratch marks on brand new car ... first scracth ... hurray! It was that sort of day where anything which could go wrong went wrong :)

Finally went to ortho doc, after xrays and other 1000 ruppee worth checkups he told me that it could be because of muscle spasms and gave me muscle relaxants and painkillers (which apparently reduces reflexes of the spinal cord).

I feeling a lot better now but was advised two weeks of rest, no, none, whatsoever physical activity at all ! There goes my vacation plans, tentative bike ride to kanyakumari, etc ... Now thinking of tasks I could do at home sitting.

Timing!

Timing: time when something happens!

Time is of the essence in life and timing plays a very critical part in every ones life and its success, shrewder are those who can advantage of it. I recently experienced one such phenomena of timing, after rigorous analysis and sleepless nights it seems like I ended up on the wrong side of it. Patience is truly a virtue, my restlessness and preconceived notions could have cost me dearly but there is no sure way of predicting the future and the losses.

My very little analysis on how one could be better prepared to take advantage of timing,

1. Patience (don't hurry with your decisions)
2. Understand the situation
3. Scenario Planning (simulate the pro's, con's & effects of each alternative decision)

While above steps might help you to time your decisions appropriately it by no ways guarantees success, so be cautious but don't be afraid to bite the bullet. While I attempt to rationalize the decisions taken in past one month, you mull on the power of timing!

3 Weird Years...

Few more days and I will be out doing something different. Its time for introspection, soul searching what ever one may call it. Even after repeated attempts of rationalizing my thoughts, "RAGE" is the word which comes to my mind. I feel so cheated that I am hardly able to contain my frustrations, sometimes wondering how do I deal with all this vitriolic feelings.

This leads me to a trivial but important question, How do people deal with all prevalent injustice? Some people fight for justice but I am not sure if it results in getting some because the nature of life is not just. One has to be lucky to be born as human and then even more lucky to be born rich and then even more luckier to have endowed with virtues. A small disconnect in the chain of nature could be painful realization of how mean this world could be.

My guess is that over time one becomes indifferent to concept of justice and rationalize it with greater meaning of life. I personally don't believe in any greater meaning of life, we live just because we are alive. May be someday I would like to be under a spell or illusion that life has a greater cause which I could totally commit to.

This is a prayer to Mighty Maadeshwara from a young queen dealing with infertility & society. Its in the form of song which is swirling with emotions, all she needs is a child. At first its a simple outpouring of tears but it gets complicated, so desperate for the kid that she now cannot comprehend worldly desires, the harsh words of neighbors and her own husband's doubt in her is literally killing her. She feels the need to be called "mother" by a kid of her own to which she can go any length to please the Maadeshwara. There is a line in the poem in which she specifically asks for Male child, which clearly shows the degradation of the contemporary society.

An excellent song portraying the humble nature of motherhood and the vulnerability of women in our society!

Theatre of Mind

Family of four with 2 cubs, with their friend a lion like canine were crushed. There was a mistake this was not suppose to happen, he cried for the mistake, in fact ran away and hid his face but to no avail. Guilt caught up with him for not saving them but he unknowingly pushed them into death.

Girl (The Beatles song)

Is there anybody going to listen to my story
All about the girl who came to stay?
She's the kind of girl you want so much
It makes you sorry
Still you don't regret a single day.
Ah girl! Ffff...Girl Girl!

When I think of all the times I've tried SO HARD to leave her
She will turn to me and start to cry;
And she promises the earth to me
And I believe her
After all this time I don't know why.
Ah, girl! Ffff...Girl Girl!

She's the kind of girl who puts you down
When friends are there, you feel a fool.
When you say she's looking good
She acts as if it's understood.
She's cool, ooh, ooh, ooh,
Girl! Ffff...Girl Girl!

Was she told when she was young that pain
Would lead to pleasure?
Did she understand it when they said
That a man must break his back to earn
His day of leisure?
Will she still believe it when he's dead?
Ah girl!Ffff...Girl Girl!

Geechings.....

When I started the blog Random Geechings ... I meant kannada "Geech"-ing where it means to "scratch randomly"!

Recently I encountered the following .....

Gooch: Gooch, A.K.A. "grundle" is the area that attaches ones sac to ones ass-hole.

..................... guess what comes next!

Geeching: considered a fine art by many, Geeching involves the tickling of a Gooch from behind by a Geecher.

Now This is called EPIPHANY moment!
